ABA therapy is a structured, data-driven approach to understanding and improving behavior. It applies principles of learning theory to increase desirable behaviors and decrease challenging behaviors.
We offer primarily clinic-based ABA therapy services. We offer both comprehensive and focused ABA services based on the individual needs of each child.
The duration of sessions will vary based on the individual needs of the child and the clinical recommendation of the treatment team.
Many insurance plans cover ABA therapy, especially when it is deemed medically necessary for individuals with ASD or other developmental disorders. Coverage can vary, so it’s essential to check with your insurance provider.
Parents and caregivers play a crucial role in ABA therapy by implementing techniques and strategies learned during sessions into the daily routine. Consistency and reinforcement of skills outside of therapy sessions are key to generalizing learned behaviors. WePlay boasts an open-door policy where our parents have time daily to debrief with their morning and afternoon therapists to increase carryover and generalization of skills. BCBAs are available daily to communicate with parents and give updates about the skills and progress within each child’s program. Parent training is a monthly expectation and can be scheduled in the clinic, home, or community environments.
Look for providers who employ Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) or those working under the supervision of a BCBA. Ensure the provider is licensed, experienced, and knowledgeable in ABA techniques. It is also recommended, or preferred, to find a provider who will provide an in-person, hands-on approach opposed to a virtual supervision model of care.
